My name is Intan Hakimah Ismail. I hold a Master's in Paediatrics and a PhD in Immunology and Allergy. Currently, I serve as the Deputy Dean of Academic Medicine at Faculty of Medicine, University Putra Malaysia. As a paediatrician, I specialize in primary immunodeficiency and food allergy, focusing on advancing laboratory diagnosis and establishing treatment strategies to enhance patient outcomes. With a commitment to advancing the lives of affected children and their families, I emphasize the importance of early and accurate diagnosis. My research translates into clinical practice, addressing unmet medical needs through interdisciplinary collaboration. By integrating clinical insights with rigorous scientific research, I foster innovative solutions that bridge the gap between research and patient care. In my role as Deputy Dean, I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of researchers and clinicians, cultivating a culture of inquiry and excellence within my institution. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the body of knowledge in immunology and allergy, ensuring that research outcomes lead to tangible benefits for patients, particularly in vulnerable populations. I have authored over 18 articles in reputable academic journals, with my research receiving more than 1,400 citations and an H-index of 17 on Google Scholar. I have presented my findings at 10 international conferences, sharing insights on primary immunodeficiency and food allergies and with a global audience. As President-Elect of the Malaysian Society of Allergy and Immunology (MSAI) and an Executive Board member of the Asia Pacific Society for Immunodeficiencies (APSID), I actively engage in professional associations that further our understanding of these critical areas. My contributions to the academic community extend beyond publications; I have peer-reviewed over 30 manuscripts and written three editorials on current trends in immunology and allergy. These efforts reflect my commitment to enhancing academic discourse and supporting emerging researchers. My personal and professional goals center on advancing research in immunology and allergy, particularly focusing on primary immunodeficiency and food allergies. I aim to develop innovative diagnostic methods and affordable treatment strategies that improve patient outcomes and quality of life for affected individuals. In the long term, I aspire to engage in interdisciplinary research that bridges clinical practice and scientific inquiry. By collaborating with experts in related fields, I hope to address critical challenges in immunology and allergy, promoting a comprehensive understanding of these complex conditions. Additionally, I am committed to mentoring emerging researchers and healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of inquiry and excellence within my institution. My ultimate goal is to contribute significantly to the body of knowledge in my field while ensuring that research outcomes translate into practical benefits for patients, thereby enhancing healthcare practices and policies related to immunology and allergy. My active listening skills enable me to understand patients' needs and collaborate effectively with colleagues. Strong communication skills allow me to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences. I excel in interpersonal skills, building rapport and fostering teamwork in multidisciplinary settings. As a leader, I guide teams with vision and motivation, while my mentoring skills help nurture the next generation of researchers and clinicians. My management skills ensure efficient project organization, allowing me to meet objectives effectively. Finally, I bring strong problem-solving skills, approaching challenges with an analytical mindset to develop innovative solutions. Together, these skills enable me to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice, ultimately improving patient care and advancing the field. I enjoy reading and cooking, especially experimenting with new recipes that focus on wellness. I also love spending time outdoors, engaging in activities that connect me with nature, which helps maintain my balance and inspires my creativity.
