With my clinical expertise in general pediatrics, pediatric neurology and pediatric critical/emergency medicine, I have dedicated myself for more than ten years in basic research and have clinically provided multidisciplinary care for children with complex neurological disorders, in particular for those with neuromuscular disorders, specially spinal muscular atrophy and congenital muscular dystrohies, and childhood congenital and acquired neurological diseases. Moreover, I have pursued curative therapies for neuromuscular diseases and inherited neurological diseases and deciphered the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms by using animal models and human stem cells. In the bench work, my research interests cover motor neuron degeneration, pathomechanism of spinal muscular atrophy, and microRNA studies. Because of my professional background in pediatric neurology, emergency medicine, and congenital disorders, I have been involved in providing multidisciplinary care for children with complex congenital disorders, particularly those with neuromuscular diseases and Duchenne muscular dystrophies with dilated cardiomyopathy and Kawasaki disease. Furthermore, I've participated in set the guideline for the acute care section of multidisciplinary management for ill children in our institute. I have strong interests in multidisciplinary care for children with complex underlying diseases who require repeated hospitalization and try to improve their inpatient care.
