My name is Oguzhan ARUN. I have worked as a cardiac anesthetist and neuro anesthetist at Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital at the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation for over 13 years. For more than 5 years, I have been actively working as a full professor. I also have a PhD in biophysics. As an anesthesiologist at the university hospital where I work, I simultaneously serve as a consultant for the cardiovascular surgery and neurosurgery departments. Due to the heavy workload, this situation is generally uncommon and not preferred for anesthesiologists. However, this arrangement allows me to gain experience in two different anesthesia fields, each with its own dynamics, while also conducting clinical and laboratory research in these significant areas. Recently, I have focused my studies on hemodynamics and intensive care, which are crucial to both anesthesia disciplines. I participate in training sessions twice a year as one of the trainers for the Hemodynamics sub-working group within the Turkish Society of Thoracic-Heart and Vascular Surgery Anesthesia, of which I am a member. Additionally, I am part of an international working group on neurocritical care led by Indian researchers. Since physics plays an important role in anesthesia, I did my PhD in biophysics, and I believe that I am one of the few anesthesiologists with a PhD in this field. I expect scientific publications on my work in this field to be published in the near future. Since 2008, I have published over 40 papers, including original articles, case reports, letters to the editor, editorial comments, and reviews in international journals, mainly in the cardiovascular field. I was the first author of seven of them. I have also authored over 70 international proceedings and chapters in four books published by international publishing houses. My total number of citations is 680, and my Google Scholar H-index is 12. I am an active member of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and the European Airway Management Society. I have published many articles in reputable national and international journals, two of which are editorial articles. I have peer-reviewed as a referee more than 100 articles in various journals. I am also on the editorial board of the World Journal of Anesthesiology. I intend to continue and complete my studies in cardiac anesthesia and neuroanesthesia. Studies on hemodynamics, including advanced monitoring techniques, are planned, and a few have already started. One of my goals is to complete these studies successfully. In the meantime, I aim to conduct studies on cardiac mechanics and circulation with a biophysical approach. Since I work in a university hospital, I serve not only as a clinician but also as an educator. I work with more than 60 research fellows in our department, and for a long time, I was the faculty member responsible for their educational planning. Our faculty has more than 1,000 undergraduate medical students, and since 2011, I have been serving on special committees such as evidence-based medicine and accreditation. Every year, I am appointed as a mentor faculty member for more than 20 medical students and more than five research fellows. Although my busy work schedule doesn't allow me much time for my hobbies, I love sports, especially tennis and skiing in the winter. I am also a good movie and theater watcher.
