I am Kai Cao, MD,PhD, currently is the Vice President, Professor and Chief-Spine-Surgeon at the Affiliated Rehabilitation Hospital of Nanchang University, and Distinguished Professor at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. I has many years of experience and expertise in scoliosis, spinal deformity, cervical kyphosis, cervical spinal disorders, spinal tuberculosis, spinal tumors, and degenerative conditions of the spine. I has pioneered many minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat these complex conditions, and is also an expert in traditional open surgery. I am currently the Asia Pacific Spine Society(APSS) Board Member and my mission is to spread the educational and scientific knowledge in the field of spine surgery to the clinicians and the researchers, and to advance the science, art and practice of spine surgery and promulgate the maintenance of professional standards in order to provide the best professional care to patients with spinal problems. I has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in a wide variety of orthopaedics, neurosurgery and spine journals. I has been a speaker in many spine-related international symposiums or conferences and served as an abstract reviewer for many organized meetings. I am a two-time recipient of the award for scientific and technological advancement of Jiangxi, China and has been awarded the outstanding paper from JSSR. I was awarded the Traveling Fellowship of Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), Asia Pacific Spine Society(APSS) and North American Spine Society (NASS). I sits on the editorial board of Asian Spine Journal and Journal of Clinical and Tranlational Research. I review 10-20 manuscripts every year from orthopaedics, neurosurgery and spine journals. My basical and clinical research is in the field of spinal deformity, cervical spine, degenerative spinal diseases. Hopely, what I am engaged in could have a break-through in my field. I am currently the Vice-President of my hospital and have beed awarded Travelling Fellowship from Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), Asia Pacific Spine Society(APSS) and North American Spine Society (NASS). I has served as diverse board members, committee members and faculty members for such organizations as SRS, AO Spine, NASS, CSRS, CSRS-AP, APSS, International Meeting for Advanced Spinal Techniques (IMAST) and Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons(CAOS). The abovementioned positions trained me to have active listening skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, mentoring skills, management skills, and problem-solving skills. I love to travel which lets me learn about local people, culture and history.
