I am Dr Minal Garg. I did my MSc in Biotechnology from University of Roorkee, Roorkee. I obtained the PhD degree at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow. I am currently serving as Associate Professor at Department of Biochemistry, University of Lucknow, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India I am an academic researcher with teaching experience of about 18 years in varied areas of life Sciences and been actively involved in molecular oncology research since the year 2000. My current research work focuses on studying the autophagic, angiogenic and EMT upstream and downstream pathways that regulate/ drive tumorigenesis. My research lab is actively involved in the development and validation of panel of biomarkers to strengthen the risk assessment of the two clinically distinct subtypes of urothelial carcinoma of bladder (UCB) patients namely non-muscle invasive bladder cancer and muscle invasive bladder cancer patients. My lab is currently working on the biomarker development of diagnostic and prognostic importance in a big pool of UCB patients using state-of-art technologies and advanced statistical tools which may help the clinical urologists to tailormade the medical treatment as per the characteristics of individual patient. I have peer reviewed around 50 manuscripts submitted to various academic journals. Being actively involved in teaching and research, I continuously work towards learning expanding my knowledge in the cutting-edge areas of science and technology. My professional goal is to lead the pioneering research in personalized medicine by translating research findings on developing the panel of biomarkers with high specificity and sensitivity into practical aspects of improving patient care, surveillance and treatment modalities. One of my long-term research goals is to investigate the role of non-coding RNAs in the biology of bladder cancer and their implications in theragnosis. I aim to make significant contributions towards improving patient healthcare outcomes and quality of life. I beleive in empathetic understanding while communicating with colleagues, patients, students and always wish to integrate feedback from team members, students, staff. I am very confident in effectively conveying the scientific concepts during classroom teaching, seminars and while delivering the presentations in the conferences to diverse audiences. I beleive in collaborative team work, maintain positive work atmosphere and facilitate constructive discussions. Practice professional ethics, mentor Master's and PhD students, inspire students, set a clear vision to achieve goals, optimally manage resources including funds and employ analytical skills to solve the problems. I enjoy wellness practices including meditation, running. I love to travel different places and explore new cultures and experimenting with new cuisines/ recipes.
