During my training as a specialist, I started to get interested in research, collaborating with other institutions in my country and with experienced researchers. Because of this interest, I did my MSc degree and later I started to research in neoplasms in our population. We have identified important epidemiological differences in cancer subtypes with respect to other populations (for example, we have a much higher proportion of diffuse versus interstitial gastric carcinoma, higher frequency of acral and nodular melanoma vs. lentiginous and superficial spreading melanoma, higher MSI in colorectal cancer, etc.) and I think that our population has other factors associated with carcinogenesis than traditional models. In addition to research, during the last five years I have developed the fellowship in oncological pathology at the National Institute of Cancerology of Mexico, with a model aimed at quality education as well as research-oriented, training not only Mexican specialists, but also We have trained specialists from other Latin American countries such as Colombia, Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Bolivia and Ecuador. Likewise, I am a professor of pathology in the medical school of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and in this program I also perform an integral education, including an approach oriented to the resolution of problems and induction in research.
