Katrin Sak, MSc, PhD, Dip.Nut.Med is an Independent Senior Researcher working in the NGO Praeventio, Estonia. She received her BSc (1996), MSc (1997) and PhD degrees (2001) in Bioorganic Chemistry in the University of Tartu, Estonia. Katrin Sak is a biochemist working in the field of anticancer action of plant polyphenols, flavonoids. Her research field comprises the studies of natural polyphenolic anticancer agents, especially the effects of flavonoids in different malignant models. Her scientific activity is focused also on the interactions between plants-derived flavonoids and conventional anticancer treatment modalities, including chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, targeted therapy and radiotherapy. Katrin Sak is the author of eight monographs/handbooks/textbooks (seven in English), 12 chapters in the edited topic collections and 132 scientific articles published in the international peer-reviewed journals (with 74 articles where she is the first or the last author). Her H-index is 37 and there are currently more than 6750 citations to her scientific works.
