Hu Zhang, MD, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology & Vice Director at the Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, West China Hospital at Sichuan University, Chengdu, China. Zhang had his medical education and clinical training done at West China Hospital, Sichuan University. In addition, he followed Professor Qin Ouyang, the father of Inflammatory bowel disease in China, to do medical research. Later, he continued his scientific training as a PhD candidate under the supervision Dr Miles Parkes at Cambridge University. After his PhD was done, he came back to West China Hospital, Sichuan University as a Scientist and Physician. Zhang’s clinical and research focuses are on the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, and the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease. Zhang is bi-lingual in Chinese and English, and he has got some grants from the National Science Foundation of China, and other foundations. Zhang has published or co-authored more than 40 peer reviewed manuscripts in SCI-indexed journals.
