Dr. João Batista Tajra is a professor of anatomy and gastrointestinal surgery at the School of Medicine at UNIEURO Medical College, Brasília/Brazil. Having received his MD degree from UFPI in 1995, Dr. Tajra completed his postgraduate training in surgery at Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal / Brazil in 2000 and has been chief physician of the colon and rectum surgery service since 2016. He got a Master's Degree in Surgery in 2007 at the Evangelical College of Paraná with studies in tumor markers in colon cancer (Caspase-3 and CD34) and a PhD in Pathophysiology at the University of Brasília with a study in Inflammatory Marking in Crohn's Disease (Galium-67 ). His ongoing research interests are inflammatory molecular markers in Crohn's Disease; evaluation of scores in endoscopy and pathology, clinical epidemiology of inflammatory bowel diseases.
