I am Alexandru-Flaviu Tăbăran, a Romanian veterinary pathologist with a specialization in anatomic pathology, toxicology, and nanomedicine. I currently serve as a Professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where I also hold the position of Director of the Department of Paraclinical and Clinical Sciences. Additionally, I am affiliated as an adjunct professor with the University of Wyoming, USA. My academic journey began at USAMV Cluj-Napoca, where I obtained my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2008. Following this, I pursued a Master of Science in Pathological and Laboratory Diagnostics and completed a Ph.D. in Anatomic Pathology in 2012. I further expanded my expertise during a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Cancer Center, focusing on comparative pathology and toxicology. In 2018, I earned board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP). Throughout my academic and research career, I have developed a strong focus on the application of nanomedicine in both veterinary and human medicine. My research interests include nanoparticle-based therapies for diseases such as tuberculosis and pancreatic cancer, as well as the use of iron oxide nanoparticles for anemia treatment. I have authored over 160 peer-reviewed publications, including several textbooks, and have secured patents for innovative therapeutic agents, such as mannan-coated gold-silver alloy nanoparticles. I have had the privilege of leading and participating in numerous national and international research projects, collaborating with institutions such as the University of Minnesota, the University of Wyoming, and multiple research centers in Romania. My work has been recognized through awards such as the Danubius Young Researcher Award and the Best Ph.D. Thesis in Toxicological Pathology by the European Society of Toxicologic Pathology. As an active member of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, the Society of Toxicologic Pathology, and the European Society of Veterinary Pathology, I contribute to advancing the field through peer reviews, editorial work, and grant evaluations. My scholarly work has amassed over 2,700 citations, with an h-index of 27 and an i10-index of 53, as reflected on my Google Scholar profile. My professional activities also extend to student mentorship, teaching courses in veterinary pathology, diagnostic necropsy, and forensic medicine. My ORCID ID is 0000-0001-5744-0451, and my academic publications and research can be accessed via my Google Scholar profile at https://scholar.google.ro/citations?hl=ro&user=yiUIgesAAAAJ&view_op=list_works&sortby=pubdate.
