Tavan Janvilisri is a professor in the Department of Biochemistry. He received a bachelor degree in Biochemistry and Genetics in 2000 and a master degree in Oncology in 2001 from the University of Nottingham. He earned a doctorate in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge in 2004 for his studies on the substrate specificities of the human ATP-binding cassette transporters ABCG1 and ABCG2.  He joined the faculty at Mahidol in 2005 and started his collaborative work with others. From 2007-2010, he received an NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship to conduct research at College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University. He was a recipient of awards including the National Outstanding Youth in creative thinking and innovation awarded by the Crown Prince of Thailand, the Royal Thai Government Scholarship, the Charles Slater Fund from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Cerebos Award, the Young Biochemist and Molecular Biologist Award, TRF-OHEC-Scopus Researcher Award, and Newton Fund Research Pitch Award.
