He graduated in Medicine at the University of Perugia, than in the 1992 he obtained a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Pathology and he achieved a Specialization in Clinical Pathology at School of Medicine, University of Perugia. From 1996 to 1999 he spent his Post-Doctoral Fellow at IGBMC of Strasbourg (France) in the laboratory of Prof. Paolo Sassone-Corsi. In the 1999-2000 he obtained an International Post-Doctoral fellowship, from the ICGEB of Trieste-Italy. From 1999-present, he is a Group leader of the laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biology, in the Department of Experimental Medicine at University of Perugia. He has concentrated its study in proliferative process. He used liver regeneration as experimental tool to study proliferation. He described in deep the role played by cAMP and transcription factors cAMP-related (CREB, CREM) in proliferation. Recently, he focussed his attention in a novel tumor genes isolated in his laboratory playing a role in proliferation. In collaboration with other research group has began to study the mechanism of tolerance in pathology. Actually, he is Adjunct Professor of Pathology and Molecular Pathology in School of Medicine, Farmacy and Biotechnology, University of Perugia. He published numerous SCI journal papers of high impact and book chapters. He coordinated/participated in several national projects in the field of oncology. He served as referee for a number of international Scientific Journal and as evaluation expert for organizations such as Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong, European Commission and Marie Curie Research Fellowship Program-European Community.
