Figure 1 Skin incision for hand-assisted laparoscopic restorative proctocolectomy.
A 7-cm vertical incision below the umbilicus was made for the hand port. Two trocars were placed in the upper umbilical region for the laparoscope and the left mid-abdomen for the surgeon’s right hand. A hand-assist device (Gel Port® system) was assembled within the wound protector.
