I have graduated Medical School at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj Napoca, Romania in 1999 and was resident in surgery from 2000 to 2017. In 2010 I've obtained the PhD degree with research on transhiatal minimally approach to esophageal resection, part of it performed at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Since 2013 I am Consultant Surgeon and Adjunct Professor at the 1st Clinic of Surgery, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj Napoca, Romania. I have had fellowships in surgery in the Heidelberg University Surgical Clinic - Germany, Allgemeine Krankenhaus Vienna – Austria, Saint-Luc Hospital Bruxelles - Belgium, National Cancer Center Seoul – South Korea.I am author in 24 papers published in extenso in PubMed indexed journals with Impact Factors up to 3.7, of which 7 as main author. So far I have 278 citations and an H-index of 9 on Google Scholar respectively 140 citations and H-index of 5 on Web of Science. I am Director of a National Research Grant (238PED/17.08.2017), Director of two local research grants awarded by UMF Cluj Napoca and Mentor for a student's local research grant. I have also directed 15 students' research projects for MD degree. I have written various chapters in three Textbooks of Surgery with national audience. I have been invited speaker in over 15 international and national conferences and have actively participated with over 125 presentations. I am currently vice-president of the Romanian Society of Colorectal Surgery and member in the Directory Board of the Romanian Association of Endoscopic Surgery.
