Dr. Ashok Kumar obtained degree of MBBS and MS from Banaras Hindu University and MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology from SGPGIMS, Lucknow, INDIA. He is recipient of several International and national awards like Fulbright –Nehru Visiting lecture to US, Commonwealth Fellow to UK. Awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Eng), Edinburgh (FRCS Ed), Ireland (FRCSI) and Glasgow (FRCSG). He is also a Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences. He has been as visiting fellow to the Kurume University School of Medicine, Kurume, Japan. He is on the role of several academic societies - past president of Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India (ACRSI), secretary, Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology and also president of Association of Surgeons of Uttar Pradesh. He is on the editorial board of several Journals. Dr. Kumar has published more than 100 papers in various International and national Journals and authored 18 book chapters. His thrust area is colorectal diseases and gallbladder cancer.
