Dr. Lee is a Professor at Pusan National University School of Medicine, South Korea. Having received his MD degree from Pusan National University School of Medicine in 1993, Dr. Lee undertook his postgraduate training at Pusan National University Hospital. He has been a fellow in the Department of Family Medicine since 1998. He became an Assistant Professor at Pusan National University School of Medicine in 2000 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2006. After spending a year as a visiting scientist at the Mayo Clinic, USA, with Professor Michael Jensen (2007-2008), Dr. Lee was promoted to Professor in 2011. His ongoing research interests include medical education, obesity, nutrition, metabolic diseases, health promotion, and humanities. He has made significant contributions to establishing waist circumference cutoffs for central obesity in Korean adults. He is a member of editorial boards and a reviewer for several scientific journals and has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Lee served as the Head of the Family Medicine Clinic (2009-2014), the Secretary General of the YES Medical Volunteer Corps (2011 to 2015) at Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital, the Head of the Department of Medicine (2010-2014), the Associate Dean of Student Affairs (2015-2016), the Associate Dean of Education (2016-2017), and the Head of the Department of Medical Education at Pusan National University School of Medicine (2018-2022). Dr. Lee served as Chairman of the Medical Education Evaluation Consortium’s Item Development and Management Subcommittee (2013 to 2017) and President of the Pusan-Kyeongnam Association Studies for Obesity (2019-2021). Currently, he is the Vice President for Medical Affairs at Pusan National University, and concurrently holds the position of Director of the Safety and Health Management Headquarters at the same institution. He is also a Professor in the Family Medicine Clinic at Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital and in the Department of Medicine at Pusan National University School of Medicine.
