I have been involved in several cross-disciplinary projects in the fields of functional genomics, stem cell biology, biochemical signaling and enzyme kinetics. At earlier career, my research was focused on understanding gene regulations. Then, my research was directed toward drug discovery, designing and screening new nucleoside analogues for prospective BNCT therapy. Since 2005, my research focuses on signal transduction (Wnt, SHH and sex hormones) in stem cells differentiation into different cell lineages for prospective usage in regenerative medicine and drug screening. In addition, I am studying the functional role of single nucleotide polymorphisms in disease and gene regulation. My accomplishments were reported in several prestigious journals including Cancer Research, Nucleic Acid Research, Circulation, Diabetes, J. of Medicinal Chemistry and EMBO Journal. Besides, the cell culture-functional genomic studies, currently, I am using Zebrafish as an animal model for metabolic-immunological diseases using gene editing CRISPR and Tol2 technologies, drug screening, developmental studies, and organ regeneration. Hands-on research experience, at different laboratories across Europe, Canada, and Kuwait, provided me with scientific and administrative capabilities. I can manage multidisciplinary projects, supervise and train researchers at different ranks. I established several collaborations, local and international. As a departmental head, I am coordinating two research teams, animal facility and functional genomics; manage the department’s finance with no deficit and keep in compliances with the accreditation agencies regulations, I am certified with NIAUT program-Canada and NEBOSH-England.
