Maria Anatolyevna Livzan, MD, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Rector of Omsk State Medical University, Head of the Department of Faculty Therapy and Gastroenterology. Being specialized in the approach development for the patient-centered treatment of internal and gastrointestinal diseases. The concept of the intestinal mucosal barrier as a structural and functional unit of the digestive tract, a component of the metabolic continuum is being developed. The phenomenon of leptin resistance in patients with GERD in the combination with overweight and obesity, and the mechanisms which impact on GERD course is the sphere of my interest. Another focus of my research is functional gastrointestinal disorders, including studies on predictive factors, disease phenotypes, and personalized treatment strategies for IBS. Cardiovascular risks, specifically the contribution of systemic inflammation and insulin resistance, are being investigated in patients with ulcerative colitis. Moreover, the dynamic changes in the structural and molecular biological characteristics of the gastrointestinal mucosa in relation to the clinical manifestations of various pathologies, including Helicobacter pylori-associated gastritis and autoimmune gastritis. A load of work is dedicated to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease as an important component of the metabolic continuum, investigating the clinical and laboratory markers for predicting liver fibrosis. Summing up, the most studies of the last few years have been dedicated to the pathomorphosis of diseases of the digestive tract in patients with metabolic syndrome.
