I was born in Bratislava, former Czechoslovakia in 1976 and have been living in Budapest, Hungary for more than twenty years. I am working as an associate professor/head of unit at the Center for Therapeutic Endoscopy, 1st Department of Surgery and Interventional Gastroenterology, Semmelweis University, Budapest. I have received medical- as well as PhD degree and completed residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Semmelweis University. As an invited research fellow I have spent several months at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectious Diseases, Otto-von-Guericke-University, Magdeburg, Germany (2204) and two and a half years as a post-doctoral research associate at the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, University of Massachusetts, Medical School, Worcester, MA, USA (2004-2007). I have completed a three-month advanced therapeutic endoscopy training (ESGE module II. grant) at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad, India (2015). I am board certified in gastroenterology, internal medicine and licensed for endoscopic ultrasonography. I am a board member of the Hungarian Society of Gastroenterology (HSG), the Endoscopy Section of HSG and the past-president of the Association of Young Hungarian Gastroenterologists (FIGAMU). My main interest is the gastrointestinal endoscopy, particularly therapeutic endoscopy (e.g. bilio-pancreatic interventions). I have been a hands-on trainer in endoscopy and invited speaker of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) for several years. I am an active member of the ESGE Education- and Guidelines Committee as well as the Membership Working Group and Curricula Working Group (ERCP-EUS subgroup) of the ESGE. I have been an author and coauthor of numerous publications including several ESGE guidelines. I hope that with the above described experience I am eligible as an editorial board member of the World Journal of Gastroenterology.
