His clinical and research activity is mainly focused on the ultrasound diagnostics in liver diseases and the ultrasound guided percutaneous treatment of HCC on cirrhosis, hydatid and simple liver cysts, abdominal abscesses and metastatic tumors of the liver and, more recently, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. He is author of more than 350 scientific publications in Italian and English, published on the most prestigious international journals (Lancet, Hepatology, British Medical Journal, Journal of Hepatology, Radiology, Gastrointestinal Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology, Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Gut, Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology). He is author of the following scientific books: - Ultrasound of the liver and biliary tree, Idelson,1989; - Digestive endoscopy and Ultrasound in AIDS, Idelson,1990; - Ultrasound guided percutaneous therapy of focal liver lesions, ECI,1995; - Ultrasound physics, semeiotics and reporting, Idelson,1998. He is author of many chapters in texts prepared by other authors, in general about ultrasound diagnostics (some of these are: Italian Treaty on Ultrasound - 2000, Atlas of Abdominal Ultrasound – 2003, Ultrasound in Internal Medicine - 2008). He has received the following acknowledgements: - In 2009: cited in the famous volume published in 2009 Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, 2009-2010 published by Marquis Who's Who; - In December 2009: Nominated as International Health Professional of the Year 2010 by the International Biographic Centre di Cambridge - England.
