I am Shannan R Tujios, MD, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Transplant Hepatology Fellowship Program Director, at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, United States of America. I am primarily a clinician educator dedicated to advancing the field of hepatology and educating the next generation of physicians. I am currently a transplant hepatologist at the busiest by volume liver transplant center in North Texas and strive to provide high quality care. My clinical expertise spans all aspects of hepatology and research interests include acute liver failure, drug induced liver injury, liver transplantation, and renal disease in hepatology patients. I am a fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease and actively involved in the American Society of Transplantation. I have been an invited moderator for American Transplant Congress liver transplantation for acute alcoholic hepatitis and the acute liver failure session at The Liver Meeting. I have been the course director for the Annual Update in Liver Disease. I have published numerous original research articles as well as several reviews and book chapters on acute liver failure and acute on chronic liver failure. I have served as a peer reviewer for Annals of Medicine, American Journal of Transplantation, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Liver Transplantation, and Gastroenterology just to name a few. My research interests focus on drug induced liver injury, acute liver failure, and liver transplantation. I created a database characterizing patients enrolled in the acute liver failure study group by degree of acute kidney injury and need for renal replacement. We described improved outcomes in patients with modest hyperammonemia with continuous renal replacement therapy regardless of serum creatinine compared to standard of care. I hope to continue to determine factors that impact transplant free survival in acute liver failure and continued optimization of post- transplant care. I have exhibited leadership and mentoring skills and am an active listener and good communicator. Hepatology and liver transplant requires excellent interpersonal skills to work as a team and problem-solving skills. I enjoy traveling and trying new cuisines.
