My name is Gherlan George Sebastian, MD, PhD. I am a University Lecturer at Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie ”Carol Davila” in Bucharest and the head of the digestive Infectious Diseases Department IV at the Dr. Victor Babes Clinical Hospital of Infectious and Tropical Diseases in Bucharest, Romania. I work in the field of Infectious Diseases for 24 years now, with a vast experience in the field of Viral hepatitis. I served and serve as an investigator and since 2013 as a Principal investigator in over 25 international clinical trials in the above-mentioned field. I published many articles in important academic journals, participated in numerous conferences in my field of interest and my H-index is 7. I also serve as peer-reviewer for many journals, like World Journal of Hepatology, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Medical Virology, and many more. I am an coordinating editor for the Romanian Journal of Infectious Diseases. My professional goal is to further improve myself as a researcher, teacher, and physician in the field of Infectious Diseases. I am mainly involved in the research regarding hepatitis Delta virus infection, its treatment and other aspects. I also have skills in the imaging field, practising ultrasonography and fibroscan. I have a PhD thesis in the field of noninvasive liver assessment. I have Leadership and management training and skills. Not least, my hobbies are music, travelling and nature exploration.
