Dr. Yao is a Professor in the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing, China. Having received his MD degree from the Peking Union Medical College in 2005, Dr. Yao served as a Vice President of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital (2006-2019) and has been a Chief Physician in Department of Gastroenterology since then. Dr. Yao served as Vice President of the Gastroenterology Branch of the Chinese Physicians Association before. Currently, he serves as Vice-President of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, Chairman of the Academic Working Committee, and Chairman of the Precision Medicine Professional Committee of Chinese Biological Engineering Association. Dr. Yao has been engaged in teaching, clinical work and research work for 40 years. He specializes in the treatment of chronic liver diseases, functional and dysfunctional gastrointestinal diseases, and Doubtful and difficult digestive diseases with a combination of Chinese and Western medicine. Dr. Yao is a part-time professor at the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Union Medical College, and the Peking Union Medical College. He is also a supervisor of doctoral students, and he has trained more than 50 doctoral students and 50 master students. Dr. Yao has undertaken 20 projects of National Science and Technology Support Program, Major Research and Development Project and Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 300 academic papers with first and corresponding authors, including more than 50 SCI papers. He is the editor-in-chief of 5 books and co-editor of 6 books. Dr. Yao has received 10 Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards and enjoys the special allowance of the State Council.
