I graduated in Medicine in 1990 and was a resident doctor of Internal Medicine between 1991-1993 at the Hospital Geral de Bonsucesso in Rio de Janeiro. I became a specialist in Gastroenterology in 1996 by the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology and obtained a Master degree in Medicine (Practice area: Hepatology) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2002. Between 2003 - 2007 I did a Master on Research in Liver Diseases at the University of Barcelona. At that same time I completed my PhD studies in Medicine (Practice area: Hepatology) at the same University and I was a Research Fellow at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona in the same period. I currently work as a hepatologist at Hopital Federal da Lagoa in Rio de Janeiro and Adjunct Professor at the School of Medical Sciences at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and Professor at the Postgraduate Program in Medical Sciences at the same university.
