Roxana Șirli is a Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timișoara, Romania. I am a senior attendant in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, working in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department of the “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timișoara. I am an expert in general ultrasonography (level III) according to the multilevel classification of SRUMB, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SRUMB). I am a member of the WFUMB (World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) Center of Excellence Timișoara, also a faculty member of the Ultrasound Learning Center of UMF Timișoara, which is also an EFSUMB Learning Center. I participated as invited speaker to multiple courses and scientific sessions in Romania and abroad, mainly in gastroenterology and ultrasound. I am author and co-author of 181 original papers published in medical journals (162 of them in ISI and PubMed publications), with a Hirsch index of 30. I am author and co-author of 24 medical books (two of them by an international publisher: “Hepatic Elastography Using Ultrasound Waves” I.Sporea, R.Sirli eds., Bentham ebooks 2012 and “Hepatic Elastography Using Ultrasound Waves - Revised Edition of Volume 1” Sporea I, Șirli R (Eds). Bentham Science Publishers 2016), for the later I have been awarded the “Daniel Danilopolu” Award of the Romanian Academy. I am author and co-author of 22 chapters in medical books, author and co-author of 6 educational ultrasound CDs and DVDs. My main interest areas are chronic liver diseases, chronic viral hepatitis, abdominal ultrasound, liver elastography, portal hypertension.
