Dr. Yasuo Tanaka graduated from School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1997. He received his doctorate degree in medicine from the University of Tokyo in 2004 for his work on “The functional characterization of proteins interacting with Hepatitis B virus X protein". He spent a postdoctoral research period at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, USA in 2008-2011 working on the innate immunity system. He is currently employed as Research Associate of Gastroenterology, the University of Tokyo Hospital. He is the certified specialist in the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology and the Japan Society of Hepatology. His clinical and research interests are focused on viral hepatitis (especially HBV), molecular mechanisms of hepatocarcinogenesis, clinical trial and translational research.
