A: Grade 0 with no increase in inflammatory cells; B: Grade 0 with mild increase in chronic inflammatory cells; C: Grade 1 with moderate increase in chronic inflammatory cells including more numerous eosinophils, but no neutrophils; D: Grade 2 with scarce neutrophils in lamina propria and epithelium; E: Grade 3 with numerous neutrophils including cryptitis and crypt abscess; F: Grade 4 with completely ulcerated colonic mucosa replaced by granulation tissue.
