Figure 1 STAT3 plays distinct roles between innate immune cells and acquired immune cells.
STAT3-mediated activation of acquired immune responses plays a pathogenic role in colitis by enhancing survival of pathogenic T cells and by inducing TNF-α. In contrast, STAT3-mediated activation of innate responses contributes to the suppression of colitis by enhancing the mucosal repair and by inducing mucin production.
