Dr. Hui-Kang Liu, PhD, now is an Associate Research Fellow from Division of basic Chinese medicine, National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine (NRICM). He got his BSc in Food sciences at Tunghai University, Taiwan and both MSc and PhD in Biomedical sciences at University of Ulster, UK. Finally, Dr. Liu received his postdoctoral training in the Department of molecular physiology, Dundee University, UK. Currently Dr. Liu runs a Diabetes research Lab at NRICM focusing on following areas of research: (1) Evidence based studies for employment of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to treat diabetes; (2) Complementary and alternative application of quality controllable herbal material for treating metabolic disorders; and (3) Investigation of pathogenesis role of metabolic disorder for accelerating neurodegenerative diseases. In addition to research, Dr. Liu is also an adjunct associate professor at Taipei Medical University and editorial board member in World Journal of Gastroenterology.
