Retired from the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria in 2023. I have a solid clinical background resulting from 35 years of hospital-based medical practice. Over the last 25 years, I have contributed to studying NAFLD (now renamned to MASLD). In this field I have published many articles covering mechanisms and manifestations of both hepatic and extrahepatic disease. In 2023, after retiring from the Hospital, I have abandoned medical practice and dedicated myself to the publishing industry, with editrial responsibilities. I have published 251 articles in peer-reviewed journals. First author in Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Nature Reviews in Endocrinology, Liver International and Digestive and Liver Disease. Author (other than first) in Lancet, Gastroenterology, Nature Reviews in Gastroenterology, Metabolism. I have reviewed more than 1,200 articles for medical journals and won several prizes as a Reviewer in various fields. I have published 18 Editorials (mostly invited) in PMC-indexed journals, all as the first and corresponding authors. Out of the active reserach field, as a retired physician I am mostly dedicated to the publishing industry. I am expert in running biomedical journals and I presently serve as a member of the Editrial Board of various journals including Exploration of Medicine, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and Exploration of Digestive Diseases.
