Dr. Salvatore Paiella is consultant in general surgery and specialized in the field of pancreatic surgery. He graduated in medicine at the University of Palermo with the evaluation of 110/110 cum laude. He specialized in general surgery at the University of Verona with the evaluation of 70/70 cum laude. From March 2017 he is Assistant Professor in General surgery at the University of Verona. Currently he is investigating the role of ablative techniques in the treatment of locally advanced pancreatic cancer and he is doing the PhD program in Inflammation, Immunity and Cancer, studying the possible stimulation of the immune system after an ablative treatment, even also on animal projects. He is the secretary of the national registry of subjects at risk of pancreatic cancer. He currently perform pancreatic surgery and he does clinical research as well. In march 2018 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification to function as Associate Professor of General Surgery. The Unit of General and Pancreatic Surgery of the Pancreas Institute of Verona is one of the world renowned center of pancreatic surgery in the world.
