Dr. Gonoi received his M.D. (2005) and his Ph.D. (2012) both from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo. He completed General Junior Residency at Asama General Hospital, Nagano, Japan and The University of Tokyo Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. He completed Diagnostic Radiology fellowship training at The University of Tokyo Hospital and Kanto Medical Center NTT EC, both in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Gonoi began researches on the relationship between pancreatic ductal anomalies and pancreatitis, diagnostic imaging of pancreatobiliary systems, postmortem imaging, and brain morphology in normal aging and psychiatric diseases while a graduate student at The University of Tokyo (2008-2012) and he continues these researches to the present. He also started a research on radiological findings of colorectal liver metastasis. Dr. Gonoi received a number of awards for his research work in the last 8 years (2010-2017): Presidential Award from Japanese Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine; Award of Excellence from Radiology, The University of Tokyo; Prize in Medicine from The University of Tokyo Medical Association; Research Award, Gold Medals for Academic Exhibition, Cypos Awards, and Itai Award from Japan Radiological Society; Bayer Encouraging Prize from Japanese Society of Abdominal Radiology; Bronze Medal for Scientific Exhibition from The Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology. Dr. Gonoi also actively participates in medical practice (diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology) and the teaching of undergraduate, graduate and medical students, as well as residents and fellows.
