Dr. Marc Basson received his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Michigan, surgical training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, Downstate Medical Center, and St. Mary's Hospital, and then earned a PhD in Experimental Pathology at Yale University before becoming an Assistant and then Associate Professor of Surgery at Yale. Dr. Basson then served for 8 years as Professor of Surgery at Wayne State University and Associate Chief of Staff for Surgical Services at the John D Dingell VA Medical Center before moving to Michigan State as Professor and Chair of Surgery at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Basson's clinical interests are in the management of complex gastrointestinal problems and his laboratory research interests focus on intestinal biology.
