I have graduated in Medicine at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre – UFCSPA), one of Brazilian most prestigious medical schools, in 2005. After that, I have performed residency in Internal Medicine (2006-2008) and Gastroenterology (2008-2010) and I have obtained my Master's Degree (2012) and my PhD (2015) at the Post-Graduate Course of Hepatology, all of them at the same University. I have also performed a specialization in Health Technology Assessment at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2014-2015). Currently, I am a Professor of Gastroenterology of the Department of Internal Medicine of the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil, where I teach undergraduate students, young researchers, residents in Gastroenterology and graduate students of the Graduate Program of Hepatology. I am also a member of the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology, the Brazilian Society of Hepatology and the Brazilian Society of Digestive Endoscopy. Moreover, I am the current President of the Society of Gastroenterology of Rio Grande do Sul (2017-2018), which is the affiliate of the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. I have published 42 complete articles, most of them regarding topics on Hepatology. Some of the most important of them concern hepatorenal syndrome (a meta-analysis and full economic evaluation), acute-on-chronic liver failure, non-invasive assessment of esophageal varices, non-invasive assessment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, among others. I am a member of the Editorial Board of Arquivos de Gastroenterologia, World Journal of Hepatology and  World Journal of Gastroenterology and I am a peer-reviewer of 12 journals indexed at Medline.
