Professor John Triantafillidis started his career as a Research Fellow in the Gastroenterology Unit, University of Oxford (1981-1982). Then, as the Head of the Department of Gastroenterology “METAXAS” Cancer Hospital, Piraeus, Greece (1988-1991), and subsequently as the Head of the Department of Gastroenterology “Saint Panteleimon” General Hospital (1991-2013). He is the Head of the IBD Unit, “Iaso General” Hospital, Athens, Greece (2013-now). He is a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology, and, since 2007, an Associate Professor at the Medical University of IASI, Romania. He was the Editor of the Journals “Annals of Gastroenterology” (1996-2010), and “Digestive Oncology” (2000-2010). He has translated many books in Greek. He is a reviewer in numerous Greek and international journals, and a member of many medical societies. He was the President of the Organizing and Scientific Committees of many International and Greek Congresses. He has been the President of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology, the Hellenic Helicobacter Pylori Study Group and the Hellenic Inflammatory Bowel Disease Study Group. He is currently the President of the Hellenic Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology. More than 250 papers of his appeared in peer review international medical journals and more than 340 in the Greek literature. He is the Editor of many books, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease (4th Edition), Digestive Oncology (award of the Hellenic Academy of Sciences, 1991), etc. More than 2,500 citations appeared in the international literature. His main research interest focuses on IBD and Digestive Oncology.
