Dr. Antonio Facciorusso graduated from the University San Raffaele in Milan and completed his residency program at the University of Bari and the National Cancer Institute in Milan directed by Prof. Vincenzo Mazzaferro. He achieved the PhD qualification at the University of Foggia , where he is currently Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology. He serves also as a gastroenterologist at the Unit directed by Dr. Nicola Muscatiello. Dr. Facciorusso’s research activity is mainly focused on diagnostic/interventional endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract and hepato-oncology. In collaboration with Dr Muscatiello, he has developed a novel technique for the endoscopic resection of large colon polyps consisting in the submucosal injection of polidocanol (a sclerosing agent) aimed at decreasing post-polypectomy bleeding. This novel procedure has gained increasing interest in the international endoscopic community and the relevant article (published by Dr Facciorusso as first author in the journal Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) has been awarded as best scientific paper published in 2015 at the National Gastroenterology Congress held in Naples last February. Moreover, Dr Facciorusso has recently developed in collaboration with Dr. Eva Montané of the Autonomous University of Barcelona a predictive score for post-polipectomy recurrence of colon adenoma, available online on http://www.pmidcalc.org/?sid=27468196&newtest=Y. In the same field he has also developed a statistical model based on machine learning methods, recently published in the official journal of the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA). Dr Facciorusso published as first author several scientific articles in international journals and he has conducted research projects with some of the most important national and international groups, among them the National Cancer Institute in Milan (Prof. Vincenzo Mazzaferro) and the University of San Diego (Dr. Siddharth Singh). He serves currently as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Gastroenterology Association (AIGO) and of the Editorial Committee of the United European Gastroenterology Association (UEG). He is also referee of the French and Dutch Cancer Institutes and he serves as a reviewer for several international journals, among them Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Oncotarget, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and World Journal of Gastroenterology. He is member of the editorial board of the World Journal of Gastroenterology
