Dr. Matteo Garcovich achieved his medical degree cum laude in Italy, after completing his pre-medical education at an international high school and by pursuing a violin degree. Upon his medical degree he finished his training in Internal Medicine at the Gemelli Hospital (Rome, Italy) under the supervision of prof. Antonio Gasbarrini and acted as a research fellow at the Royal Free Hospital (London, UK) under the guidance of Prof. AK Burroughs. During his PhD and over the last years he has focused his scientific interests on the topics related to portal hypertension and particularly to ultrasound application in liver diseases. With his expertise in biomedical imaging and contrast agent research, he has published numerous SCI journal papers and book chapters, and reviewed for many academic journals. Innovative, translational and longstanding research has always been a goal in his academic career.
