Born in Israel 1963 After completion of my army service I began studying Biology at Tel Aviv University in Israel And then went on for a medical degree graduating from the same university. I completed my General surgery residency at the Rabin Medical Center in Israel which included a 2 year research period at the Division of transplantation Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida USA , working with Professor A Tzakis in the field of intestinal transplantation for which I developed a model of orthotopic and heterotopic intestinal transplantation in the rat. My work concentrated on intestinal mucins and its relation to graft rejection. Once I was certified in General surgery, I went to the university of Southern California in LA USA for research and clinical fellowship in colorectal surgery. I was running an anorectal physiology lab concentrating on pelvic floor and colon cancer research. After complying my fellowship I worked as a colorectal surgery attending at USC. Currently I am working as a faculty at the Rabin Medical Center as the chief of the colorectal service. The Hospital is affiliated to Tel Aviv University where I am a senior lecture and active in students and postgraduate teaching. My research centers mainly on colon and rectal cancer and IBD which follows most of my clinical work. I am active in the Israeli Colorectal Society where I am chairing the scientific comity. I had the opportunity to review manuscripts for several journals in the field of general surgery mainly in colorectal surgery and in OBGYN related to pelvic floor topics.
