With a first-class honours degree in biology in Italy, upon his PhD in 1992 at University of Naples, Giuseppe Mazzarella was nominated a permanent researcher at the Institute of Food Sciences-National Council Research where he initiated a laboratory of Immunomorphology. Over the last 20 years, he has focused his scientific interests on the topics related to mucosal immunology including celiac disease and non celiac gluten sensitivity. With his expertise in immunobiology, he has established a series of platforms for evaluation of CD immunopathogenesis, investigation of the possible therapeutic strategies for coeliac patients based on immune modulation, investigation of the mucosal immune response to gluten in non celiac gluten sensitivity, developed Mouse Model of Gliadin-Sensitive Enteropathy, published numerous SCI journal papers and book chapters, reviewed for many academic journals, coordinated/participated in several national/EU projects, served as an evaluation expert for organizations such as European Laboratory for the Investigation of Food-Induced Disaese. (ELFID). Innovative, translational and longstanding research has ever been a pursuit in his researcher career.
