Dr Sinéad Smith graduated from University College Dublin, Ireland with a BSc in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics and from Dublin City University, Ireland with a PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology. Subsequently she carried out postdoctoral research at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland on Helicobacter pylori infection and associated diseases, before spending almost 2 years at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, USA investigating innate immune signalling during inflammation. She returned to Trinity College in 2013 as an Assistant Professor between the Department of Clinical Medicine and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Her research interests include gastro-intestinal infection, innate immunity and H. pylori antibiotic resistance, with a view to developing new effective treatment strategies.
