With a medical degree in Taiwan, he had PhD in 2000 at Chang Gung University, Taoyuan, Taiwan, has been a professor of Medicine in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital since 2010. Over the last 20 years, he has focused his scientific interests on the topics related to hepatitis B virus, HBV replication, chronic hepatitis B carrier, liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and familial tendency. With ultrasound imaging, liver biochemistry, viral markers and peripheral blood mononuclear cells, he has collected longitudinal data and samples from thousand of HBsAg carriers for up to 30 years. He is trying to understand the genetic and non-genetic factors related to different outcome among chronic HBsAg carriers. He is a member of Taiwan Association for the Study of Liver (TASL) and American Association of the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD).
