Figure 2 The pathophysiological mechanism linking coronavirus disease 2019 with hyperglycemia. The pathophysiological basis of hyperglycaemia in coronavirus disease 2019 patients is still poorly understood but appears to be due to the development of insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell dysfunction in which upregulation of angiotensin II, inflammation, and oxidative stress play important role.
