Percutaneous coronary intervention for coronary artery disease has seen important evolution in last few decades. Early bare metal stents showed a high rate of in-stent re-stenosis. Drug-eluting stents tried to overcome this complication using anti-proliferative molecules; in this sense, new-generation ones, with thinner strut thickness, showed more biocompatibility and less complications with respect to previous models.
