Figure 1 Endothelium-Cardiac muscle interactions through paracrine neuregulin-1 signaling. Secreted neuregulin-1 from endothelial cells binds to erbB4 inducing auto- and trans-phosphorylation of ErbB2/ErbB4 heterodimers, expressed in cardiomyocytes. NRG-1: Neuregulin-1; PDZ: Postsynaptic density 95, disc large and zona occludens-1 homologous protein domain; ADAM: A desintegrin and metallopeptidase; P: Phosphorylated tyrosine.
