Multiple opportunities exist for implementation of activity monitors in the peri-operative period. Pre-operatively, this includes the assessment of surgical fitness, and guiding a prehabilitation programme. Post-operatively there are multiple options for intervention and measurement in the hospital setting, as well as longer term assessments of functional outcome and encouraging an active lifestyle for overall physical and mental wellbeing.
