Tumor-derived exosomes are released to the tumor microenvironment and distant organs transferring bioactive molecules and thus regulating several cancer-related processes such as epithelial-mesenchymal transition, drug resistance, pre-metastatic niche formation, angiogenesis and tumor immunity.
