863 cases include in this study, they were divided into two main categories, the patients were divided into group A [recurrent nonrefractory ascites (RNRA), n = 183] and group B [refractory ascites (RA), n = 217]. In category two, there were both cirrhotic gastrointestinal bleeding and ascites. The patients were divided into group C (RNRA, n = 328) and group D (RA, n = 135). TIPS: Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt; HE: Hepatic encephalopathy; RNRA: Recurrent nonrefractory ascites; RA: Refractory ascites.
