The mean HOMA-IR index in HCV infected patients was significantly higher compared to healthy controls (2.24 vs 0.59, P = 0.0003) (Table 1). However, there was no significant difference in adipocytokine concentration between patients with chronic hepatitis C and healthy subjects.
