Gastric tumor sections stained for CD74 (A, D, G and J), MIF (B, E,H and K), toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) (C, F, I and L) in each clinical stage, and CD74, Migration inhibitory factor (MIF) and TLR4 staining for the same stage are from the same patient, demonstrating that MIF and its receptor CD74 and TLR4 are expressed in close proximity in the tumor microenvironment.
