The wild type allele, which is the Pro allele, is indicated in grey, the heterozygous genotype (Pro/Ala) in black and the homozygous Ala/Ala mutant in pale-grey. Genotype analyses revealed a higher prevalence of the homozygous Ala/Ala genotype in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD) patients.
